GRO Biosciences (“GRObio”) is redefining therapeutics by leveraging new protein building blocks to transform treatment for countless patients. Our groundbreaking science expands the amino acid alphabet to deliver on the promise of protein-based therapies. Our GRO platform creates novel proteins with an expanded alphabet of non-standard amino acids (NSAAs), providing therapeutic modalities that were previously inaccessible. We’re seeking a Scientist or Senior Scientist with analytical chemistry, synthetic chemistry, and/or glycobiology experience who’s interested in learning new things, “wearing many hats”, and having a large impact on the growth of an early-stage company. Major responsibilities include experimental design, experiment execution, data analysis, collaborating across a matrixed research team, and sourcing and managing relationships with external partners. Ideal candidates are collegiate, transparent, data-driven, motivated by novel challenges, and will think critically yet creatively about the company’s strategies for therapeutic development.

Responsibilities:

Requisite Experience

  • PhD degree, or BS degree plus at least 5 years’ experience, in biochemistry, chemistry, chemical biology, analytical chemistry, or related field
  • Significant research experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • Glycobiology
    • Analytical chemistry of proteins
    • In vitro chemical modification of proteins (e.g., bioconjugation)

Preferred Experience

  • Post-doctoral and/or industrial work experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of immunology

We are seeking a talented and driven Business Development Associate to join our team.  Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, this individual will work with teams across the organization to support the development and execution of our corporate and business development strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead key components of business development initiatives such as market intelligence and technology scouting to support R&D and pipeline planning
  • Build business cases, including assessment of development plans, market opportunity and appropriate business model(s) for prospective strategic partnering opportunities
  • Lead or contribute to other strategic partnering initiatives which may include development, manufacturing or technology collaborations
  • Act as internal resource for competitive intelligence in multiple areas including synthetic biology, autoimmune disease and NSAA-enabled drug development
  • Generate and maintain competitive landscape analyses, summarizing and presenting results internally to facilitate decision making in business strategies
  • Research industry landscape, potential partners, relevant technologies, historical/comparable terms & transactions
  • Support ongoing refinements of corporate strategic plan through periodic re-assessment of corporate priorities, portfolio needs and R&D progress
  • Work cross-functionally to coordinate in-house technical evaluation and due diligence recommendations on business development and collaboration opportunities
  • Lead and/or contribute to multiple projects simultaneously that require a high level of analytical and technical ability and significant business acumen, as dictated by the evolving needs of the business
  • Track BD interactions and developments and generate and maintain BD-relevant reports, analyses, and dashboards

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in the life sciences (e.g., biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering).
    • Advanced degree (e.g. PhD, MBA) preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years of business development, strategic analysis and/or market research experience in one of the following (or related fields):
    • Life science strategy / management consulting
    • Relevant BD / commercial functions within biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies
  • Strong technical and analytical skills for evaluating commercial market potential covering a broad base of biopharmaceutical technologies, especially therapeutics
  • Experience with financial analysis, forecasting, and market segmentation
  • Basic understanding of drug discovery / development and regulatory approval processes

RA/Senior RA, Application Sciences

GRO Biosciences (GRObio) is hiring a Research Associate (RA) or Senior RA to advance products arising from the company’s recoded organism platform. Recoded organisms enable GRObio to generate revolutionary products of unprecedented structural and chemical diversity. With the tools at GRObio, you’ll be able to propose, develop, and implement completely differentiated solutions to longstanding, critical problems.

We’re seeking a motivated team-player and problem-solver to contribute to early-stage product development within Application Sciences. Ideal candidates will be interested in learning new things, “wearing many hats”, and having a large impact on the growth of an early-stage company. Regular activities will include planning and carrying out experiments throughout our product development pipeline, including strain development, biomass generation, protein purification, protein characterization, and bioassays. This position will interface heavily with team members from other groups, including with members of the Foundry to develop automated, high throughput workflows. There is substantial growth opportunity within the company for the capable candidate.

Responsibilities:

Research Associate/Sr RA, Chemistry Expansion

GRO Biosciences (GRObio) is hiring an RA/Sr RA with bench experience in molecular biology to advance the company’s recoded organism technology. Recoded organisms enable GRObio to generate revolutionary products of unprecedented structural and chemical diversity. With the tools at GRObio, you’ll be able to propose, develop, and implement completely differentiated solutions to longstanding, critical problems.

The selected candidate for this position will work within the Chemistry Expansion division, enabling the scalable incorporation of new amino acids into proteins. Major job responsibilities include development and screening of translation machinery for new amino acids, and general engineering of ribosomal translation. Day-to-day activities include design and execution of experiments in conjunction with other team members. Diligence, transparent communication, and record keeping will be critical skills to enable success in this position. Your creativity and ingenuity will be crucial to driving GRObio’s research priorities optimizing strain performance and expanding the amino acid alphabet to create differentiated products.

These partnerships provide tailored automation solutions to improve throughput and robustness of our research. Collaboration is a central feature of this position as the day-to-day will float from design of approach to workflow development to project execution. Your creativity and ingenuity will be crucial to driving GRObio’s research priorities, including developing new products, optimizing strain performance, and expanding the amino acid alphabet.
